Asian Leopard Cats

The Leopard Cat is a small wildcat of South East Asia and the Indian subcontinent. There are eleven subspecies of Leopard Cat classified according to their wide geographic dispersal.

The name "Leopard Cat" is derived from the leopard like spots prevalent in all subspecies but its relation to the Leopard is distant as the Leopard is a member of a different genus.

On average the leopard cat is as large as a domestic cat and the chest and the lower part of the head is white. The leopard cat bears black markings that may be spotted or rosetted.

The subspecies that we have, Prionailurus Bengalensis Bengalensis, is known as the Asian Leopard Cat.

The Asian Leopard Cat when mated with domestic cats produce offspring known asĀ  Bengal cats.

Some requirements to owning an awesome Asian Leopard Cat are firstly a DWA Licence which is issued by local authority once conditions are met. These conditions will include a suitable enclosure with adequate housing and enrichment to stimulate the cat and a supply of raw meat ,poultry and game.

It must be remembered that the Asian Leopard Cat is NOT a cuddly house pet and even although it has been captive bred it still retains wild characteristics.

It is an absolute joy to interact with and observe this mainly nocturnal magnificent, beautiful exotic wildcat.

We are a successful Asian Leopard cat breeder and do have occasionally Asian Leopard cats for sale.
