The Savannah cat is a hybrid domestic cat breed. It is a cross between the Serval and a domestic cat. This mating however is very difficult to achieve as very few Servals are interested in mating non serval breeds.
We however are successful Savannah cat breeders and are very proud of our first F1 Savannah cub which was also the first F1 Savannah cub to be born and bred here in the UK......and both her parents were also born and bred here in the UK....Her father, an African Serval, was bred here by us.
The first generation or early generation, hybrid, that is a mating between the serval and a domestic, is known as F1 Savannah. It then progresses with the F1 mating a domestic to produce an F2 and so it goes on with F3,F4,F5 and so on.

This is Grace our F1 Savannah kitten.

The F1 Savannah is very Serval like in appearance. The F2 and F3 should also be but the Serval looks quickly dilute until the late generations resemble very little of their magnificent ancestry. They do however have a wonderful temperament and are full of character and make incredible pets.
Below is Grace at 9 months old.

Because of the difficulties involved in breeding early generation savannahs, especially F1 Savannah, they are very rare and expensive to purchase. They also require a DWA Licence whereas the F2 and later do not.
